Don't call me YOUR 'gay best friend'.

Since when did homosexuals want to be someone else's property?
This one phrase is something that really annoys me, and I don't think that many heterosexuals understand what these two words actually mean to people like me. Some gay people may not think this and may totally disagree with me. However, I do not like this and if you call me this then bye Felicia.
"Can you be MY gay best friend?" Um, what? Just by using that, it completely proves to me the type of person you are. I don't want to be your property and be treated like a puppy for you to play with when you're sad and need cheering up. The word 'my' is so possessive and for you to say that I'm yours does not sound very liberating.
The term 'gay best friend' is associated with women. It makes homosexuals seem like an accessory for women and will only benefit them. Type in 'gay best friend' onto google images and look at what come up. But if not, here are some really annoying images that prove my point:

Could it get anymore stereotypical?
For so many years, the LGBTQ community have felt so controlled by society because of the views traditional heterosexuals use to preach. So to celebrate how far we, the gay community, have come in society, people can attend gay pride to support LGBTQ people in conquering equality, and to show others around the world that they're not alone. So by you saying that I am basically yours and that my sexuality is still owned by YOU, it's not making me feel any better about myself.
I don't go around saying to all my straight friends that their my 'straight best friends' because:
1) - It would be fucking weird and they would look at me like I'm an idiot, and 2) - that phrase was never created because gays do not own you like straights have owned gays for god knows how long. Why do you think gays are afraid to come out? Because heterosexuals have made it such an issue in the first place and that straight people have never needed to 'come out' to their parents. White, straight human beings have never felt oppressed by society in their whole life. You are very lucky. I am not saying that I am oppressed because I am sure that others in the world have it a lot harder than me, and I am not saying that all straight people are like this. However, I just don't think heterosexuals understand the real struggle homosexuals had to/ have to go through still. Eastern countries aren't as accepting as western countries. We see this when a man has been thrown off of a roof and is broadcasted to thousands of people, yet you still think that a coloured flag on your profile picture is going to change anything.
I think it's amazing that a lot of heterosexuals attend gay pride. It shows that we, as a unity, are advancing and progressing. So thank you. HOWEVER, don't attend gay pride because you want to get drowned in alcohol with your friends and to have a laugh. Attend gay pride because you want to support that community and you're proud at how far we have come. Celebrate with us. Don't go just to laugh at the drag queens and post a picture on Instagram and call it 'diverse' just because you aren't used to it. You probably do that to show that you actually attended pride, so now everyone believes that you are a good person. How is a picture of your arm around a drag queen, with you laughing and smiling, going to prove anything. That drag queen could of been straight. Just keeping it real. So instead of you posting a picture, or changing your profile picture to a LGBTQ rainbow, which by the way is the most pathetic thing I have ever seen, actually do something to show you care. Because that picture you posted is not going to prove anything.
Hearing the term 'gay best friend' being shouted at pride will piss me off so much, and I'm sure that it will piss a lot of gays off too. So be careful what you say and who you say it to. I am not your property; I am not owned by a straight person. I am a human who is in control of himself.
